Nebraska cops get car cams to bust drunks

Nebraska law enforcement agencies are getting more than $330,000 in federal grants to fight drunk driving. The grants are going to 17 police departments and 25 sheriff’s offices across the Husker State.
They’ll be using the money to install nearly 100 in-car camera systems. Those systems can help officers document the actions of drunk drivers, which can bring more arrests and convictions.
A report from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety says law officers statewide busted more than 13-thousand people for D-U-I last year. Officials hint this year’s arrest numbers could be even higher.
