Dabo Swinney took over as interim head coach for the Clemson Tigers on October 13th for Tommie Bowden who resigned. At that point the Tigers were 3-3. They lost their first game under Swinney, then won four of their last five including three in a row to finish the season 7-5 and make enough noise to be considered for the Gator Bowl.
Swinney was an assistant coach under Bowden and is considered one of the top five or six recruiting coaches in the country. Shortly after the regular season, Swinney was named permanent head coach in early December. Now he’s ready for a tough test from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Swinney’s biggest concern facing the Huskers is their offensive balance.
While the Husker offense may be a concern for Clemson, the Tigers offense is no slouch either and just getting a different look from a team in a different conference like the ACC can cause problems for defensive coordinator Carl Pelini and his biggest fear is becoming sloppy.
