The Huskers’ coaching staff is dealing with in home recruiting, final exams for the players. A lot going on as the Huskers try to shuffle schedules around to fit in practices. The team practiced twice last week, they were on the field yesterday, but won’t practice again now until Thursday. Head coach Bo Pelini has been trying to create a schedule that works for everyone.
He mentioned Shawn Watson the offensive coordinator at practice. He didn’t have much to say, but he interviewed at New Mexico for their head coach position, but it appears he won’t get that job. Still, Pelini thinks Watson would be a great head coach somewhere if that’s the path he chooses.
It appears New Mexico will go with Illinois offensive coordinator Mike Locksley. How about former Husker Turner Gill? His name came up last year as a possible replacement to Bill Callahan. He’s done a great job at Buffalo where his team beat undefeated Ball State to win the Mid America Conference title in a 42-24 win. Gill’s name has come up for the Syracuse, Auburn, and Mississippi State jobs.
As of yesterday afternoon, there are only 3,000 of Nebraska’s allotment of 12,750 tickets that are still available for the Gator Bowl.
