Husker men suffer first loss of the year at Arizona St.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers suffered their first loss of the men’s basketball season losing to #19 Arizona State on Sunday 64-44.  It was by far the Huskers worst shooting day of the season, hitting just 29% from the floor.
The Sun Devils employed a great defensive scheme playing a zone that confused and shut down the Huskers offense.  The Husker defense held Arizona State to 9 of 26 shooting in the first half, but the Huskers lack of size came into play on the boards as NU was outrebounded 23-12 which led to a 30-18 half time deficit.
Steve Harley led Nebraska with 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting while Velander was second on the squad with nine points. Nebraska was outrebounded 37-25 and committed more turnovers (14-12) than its opponent for the first time this season.
ASU All-American candidate James Harden had 20 points, nine rebounds and had six assists.
