Kenton Walker had 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench as Creighton won its 10th straight home game, topping defending Southwestern Athletic Tournament champion Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday night by an 82-58 score before 15,748 fans at Qwest Center Omaha.
The Bluejays (4-2) wasted no time building a double-digit lead, taking an early 15-5 advantage. The Delta Devils (0-9) came right back though, scoring 11 straight to take their first lead at 16-15. Creighton’s Booker Woodfox answered with his second three-pointer of the game to start an 8-0 Bluejay run that gave his team the lead for the remainder of the night.
The Bluejays would take a 46-33 lead into the halftime locker room, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor in the opening half. P’Allen Stinnett led CU with 11 points in 11 minutes off the bench, while Walker had eight points and six rebounds in the first half. Stinnet would finish the game with a team leading 18 points. Woodfox would finish with 14.
