Creighton soccer advances with win over Tulsa

The second ranked and seventh-seeded Creighton men’s soccer team topped sixth-ranked and unseeded Tulsa 2-1 Tuesday night in front of 2,467 fans at Morrison Stadium to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bluejays (15-1-2) got on the board in the first minute as senior Andrei Gotsmanov scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season just 36 seconds into the match. His goal came from nine yards out as Golden Hurricane goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey had a loose ball go off his hands and bounce right to Gotsmanov who put it in for an early 1-0 Creighton advantage.
The Bluejays added to their lead in the 35th minute as Jeff Thayer crossed the ball to Seth Sinovic who scored for the second time on the season.
The Bluejays will host Connecticut on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Stadium.
