Huskers start preparations for Colorado

Last regular season game this Friday when the Huskers host Colorado.  Head coach Bo Pelini held a closed practice on Sunday at the team kicks into normal game week operations.  Joe Ganz was held out a couple days last week; he should be ready for the CU game after he took a shot in practice.  That opened up some time for Zac Lee and Patrick Witt.  Pelini said they’re coming along.
It will be Ganz this week though who is coming off a great offensive performance at K-State over a week ago.  The greatest compliment a coach can give a player is when he says he trusts that player.  That’s the case with offensive coordinator Shawn Watson who likes having a quarterback he can bounce ideas off of and get feedback from while in the film room.
Some other notes from the Huskers and the Big 12.  First, it’s being reported that receivers coach Ted Gilmore could interview for the Wyoming head coaching position after the Cowboys fired their head coach Joe Glenn, a native of Lincoln and former coach at Doane.
Bill  Snyder is expected to be named head coach at Kansas State later today.  The 69 year old will take over the program again after they fired Ron Prince.
The Big 12 North is already decided with the Missouri Tigers claiming the division.  The South is still up for grabs. After Oklahoma’s 65-21 win over Texas Tech.  The Red Raiders who were 2nd in the BCS standings slide to 7th.  Texas moves up to 2nd and Oklahoma 3rd.  However, all three teams are tied in the Big 12 south at 6-1.  Tech plays Baylor, Texas plays A & M and OU plays at Oklahoma State.  If they all win and end in a three way tie at 7-1, the tiebreaker is based on the highest BCS ranking because Tech beat Texas, Texas beat OU, and OU beat Tech.
