Chadron State drops exhibition game against CSU

The Colorado State men’s basketball team shot over 55 percent from the field and took advantage of a 46-28 first half lead en route to its 94-78 over Chadron State in the exhibition opener for both teams on Monday evening in Fort Collins, Colo.
Andre McFarland and Willis Gardner each finished with 18 points, For the game, Colorado State hit 30 of 54 shots, including nine of 17 from beyond the arc.
Although the Eagles didn’t get the win, there were plenty of bright spots for the young squad. Three players finished in double digits and all 12 players scored. In addition, the Eagles, who lost to Colorado State 107-76 last season in an exhibition game, outscored the Rams 50-48 in the second half.
Chadron State sophomore guard Tim McLaurin led CSC with a game-high 22 points by going 7-for-16 from the field, including three treys. Stacy McAlister had 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Chadron State will play another exhibition game on Friday against the Huskers in Lincoln.  The Eagles begin the regular season by hosting Augustana (S.D.) on Saturday, Nov. 15. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m., but the time may change if the CSC football team hosts a first-round playoff game.
