Another teen dumped in Omaha via "safe haven"

Another child has been dropped off under Nebraska’s “safe haven” law. This latest case marks the 21st child that’s been left at a Nebraska hospital in the past several weeks. Officials say a 15-year-old girl from Douglas County was abandoned at Creighton University Medical Center on Monday under the controversial state law. The girl has been placed in residential shelter care. Some state lawmakers have announced plans to change the law to apply to infants three days old or younger, instead of letting any child be left, as it now reads. Governor Heineman has resisted calling a special session, but says he hasn’t taken that idea off the table.
