Cougar hunt abandoned near Omaha

The search for a stray mountain lion in eastern Nebraska is over — and no big cat was captured. Nebraska Game and Parks officials launched the search on the northern edge of Omaha, then quit after only a couple of hours of scouring the woods.
Mountian lion sightings were reported by two Omaha police officers and by two animal control officers from the Nebraska Humane Society. The big cat dashed into the woods but either kept running or found a great hiding place. Humane Society officials say they’ve gotten a half-dozen calls from residents who’s also spotted the cougar.
The plan is to either kill the creature, or if possible, tranquilize it and take it to a zoo or refuge.
