Close but not enough

The Huskers 37-31 overtime loss to 7th ranked Texas Tech proves there is such a thing as moral victories.  The Huskers 3-3 on the year, 0-2 in the Big 12, but Sean Callahan reports that there is much to look forward to.
Quite a shakeup at the top of the national rankings especially with teams in the Big 12.  We’ll start with the Texas Longhorns grabbing the number one ranking following their 45-35 win over Oklahoma in their annual Red River shootout.  OU drops to 4th in the AP Top 25.  Texas Tech remains at 7, while Oklahoma State jumps from 17 to 8 following their 28-23 upset win at Missouri.  The Tigers who with a win could have been the number one team, dropped all the way down from third to 11th.  Kansas rounds out the Big 12 with a number 16 ranking.  The Huskers only play KU and OU after the Iowa State road game this week, then a home game against an improved but beatable Baylor team.  Not to look too far ahead, but if the Huskers continue to get better, they could have five wins heading into those game and be just one game shy of bowl eligibility with four to play.
