Mavs snap two game conference loss streak

Maverick running back Brian McNeill ran for a career-high 272 yards and four touchdowns as UNO beat the Missouri Western Griffons 42-14 on Homecoming Saturday at Caniglia Field. The Mavericks racked up a season-high 589 yards and, in the process, snapped a two-game losing streak.

The 272 yards put up by McNeill is the third-best rushing total for a single game in school history.

The Mavericks’ defense was particularly strong against the rush, allowing the Griffons just 36 yards on the ground. For the game, Missouri Western had 221 yards of total offense.

The Mavericks are now 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in MIAA play. They’ll take to the road next week to visit perennial power Pittsburg State on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
