Hagel and Kerry share ideas in Lincoln

Former Senator Bob Kerry and Senator Chuck Hagel appeared before a large crowd at UNL this morning to talk about the economy and health care. On the economy, Kerry says it would be smart to allow current treasury secretary Henry Paulson to stick around after January.
“You tell me Chuck, how long’s it gonna take to get a new secretary of treasury confirmed, first of March, Middle of February, we could have three months where you don’t have anyone running the darn thing.”
Hagel Agrees and says this crisis is huge.
“I think it’s bigger than the great depression, and it’s gonna take some time to work things out, but the government can’t just stand back and do nothing.”
Both agree the economy will recover, but it will not happen tomorrow.
