It appears an Omaha man died while in police handcuffs early this morning. Paramedics were called to an Omaha homeless shelter early where a man was having some sort of medical emergency.
The 54-year-old man reportedly became combative and police were called. Officers put the man in cuffs so he could be taken to the hospital, but en route, the man became unconscious.
The handcuffs were taken off and CPR was started, but he was pronounced dead at Creighton University Medical Center. Police say no physical force was used on the man.
