It sort of a role reversal between these two teams. For so many years, it was Missouri coming up to Lincoln for their bi-annually butt kicking. 30 years to be exact, 15 games.
The Tigers themselves and their fans are well aware of that, but so are the Huskers, especially tight end Mike McNeil who is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He’s got two sisters who attened Mizzou as well as several friends from high school and he’s heard about it from them.
The Huskers haven’t lost at home to Missouri since 1978, can they pull of the major upset this week? Hey, it’s already happened to USC, and Georgia and Florida at home and with Mizzou’s past history, it’s not out of the question. Plus, even though Mizzou QB Chase Daniel completed 87% of his passes against Turner Gill’s Buffalo team, his defense forced three turnovers and the ball game was close late in the 3rd quarter. This could be a week the Huskers earn their Blackshirts.
One final note. Next weekend’s game at Texas Tech will have a 2pm kickoff and the game will be carried on television on FSN. On tomorrow’s Big Red Report, we’ll hear from Missouri Tiger head coach Gary Pinkel to learn what his biggest concern is coming into this game.
