Senators start talk on "Safe Haven" law

Work is already beginning on possible changes to the Safe Haven Law. A group of State senators led by Speaker Mike Flood met Sunday night and talked about ways to make sure it is directed at those facing a crisis, not for parents to drop off children at the hospital for convenience.
“When you have children living in filth, when you have children living in situations where they present a safety risk to others in the house, or you have children with a bubbling septic tank in the back, I think there is reason to take appropriate action.”
It has not been decided whether or not to add an age restriction to the law. Flood says these discussions could last for months.
