A day long hearing is underway at the state capitol to find out how the Beatrice State Development Center was continually out of compliance with state regulations. State Senator John Harms of Scottsbluff says there was not appropriate leadership at the facility to correct the problems.
“So where is it in this process that we go to the next level that says ya know what you have a very serious problem here and it needs to be corrected now, It seems like to me, in this whole thing it just fell aside and i don’t know if it was ignored, I hope it wasn’t, but that’s what my observations are. So when do we go to the next level and what process should be put in there so you can go to the next level and address the issue.”
State investigators admitted there may be a need to add more people to inspect the facility and prevent future problems.
