Playing in their first-ever MIAA match, the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team snapped a three-game losing skid, sweeping Missouri Southern 25-15, 25-21, 25-22 Wednesday night in front of 364 fans at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Mavericks improved to 5-6 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA. Missouri Southern fell to 4-6 and 0-1.
Junior outside hitter Sara Kampschnieder picked up her third-straight double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the Mavericks.
Junior middle blocker Ellen Thommes hit .435 with 11 kills and a match-high four blocks.
Nebraska-Omaha will hit the road this Friday, Sept. 19 for a 7 p.m. conference match at 16th-ranked Pittsburg State. UNO will play at Southwest Baptist at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
