Movie theatre chain fined over child labor laws

A national theatre chain is facing a civil penalty for child labor law violations in Nebraska and elsewhere.
American Multi-Cinema, or AMC, is being fined more than 141-thousand dollars after an investigation in Nebraska looked into child labor violations in Nebraska, Missouri, New Jersey and Louisiana. The movie theatre chain has one complex in the Husker State — a 24-screen facility in Omaha.
The U-S Labor Department says in most of the cases, AMC had workers under 16 working too many hours, too late at night or too early in the morning. As part of the resolution, AMC has agreed to produce and show a child labor public service announcement on workplace safety in all of its nearly 300 theaters in 30 states nationwide.
