Turbines may come to Capitol City

Talk of turbines and wind energy has swept it’s way across the state lately. Mike DeKalb of the Lincoln Planning Department says the city could soon be testing it’s own wind turbine.
“Why don’t we look for a city building which good or bad is exempt from the zoning, so we approached parks department and public works.  They both said yes they’d be happy to let him put up his machine and see how it runs and test it and look at it and monitor it and so on.
DeKalb says one potential sight for the turbine would be on a Parks and Rec building at Pioneer’s Park. DeKalb also says zoning changes are also in the works that could allow you to put a wind turbine in your own backyard.
