Wingnuts walk off with Saltdog playoff hopes

The Lincoln Saltdogs saw their playoff hopes come to an end in stunning fashion on Friday in Wichita, losing 2-1 as the Wingnuts scored two runs in the ninth.
The winning rally for Wichita started when Lincoln closer Matt Hammon walked the lead off hitter.  On a sac bunt attempt by Kevin Hooper, the throw to first was dropped.  After a strikeout, the Wingnuts came up with back to back singles to drive in the winning run.
The come from behind win ruined Jim Paduch’s day who pitched into the eighth inning and allowed no runs on just two hits and two walks while striking out four.
Lincoln scored its only run in the first inning, when Dustin Yount’s single drove in Albenis Machado.  The Saltdogs left the bases load in the first inning, something that would come back to haunt them in the end.
Sioux City won their game, eliminated Lincoln’s chance of winning the second half north division in the American Association.
