Voters will get to decide if affirmative action is done away with in the state. A petition effort to allow voters to decide if Nebraska should effectively end Affirmative Action did receive enough signatures according to Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale. Gale says the initiative had 136,589 valid signatures. It needed about 112,000. The initiatives would ban any hiring practices, scholarships to Nebraska Universities and other public programs that favor one group over another.
