American Legion team advances to World Series

The American Legion team from Millard West won the Mid-Plains Regional 11-8 over Blue Springs Missouri.
The wildcats are now 41-16 and advance to the eight team American Legion World Series which starts Friday in Shelby, North Carolina.
Lincoln Southwest last qualified a Nebraska team for the World Series in 2006.
The Wildcats trailed 4-2 in the sixth before Brandon Bass hit a three run homer and Steve Jensen, the regional MVP, added a solo shot in their four run inning.  They added runs in the seventh and eighth, but Blue Springs came back with a pair of runs in each inning to tie the game at 8-8.  In the ninth, Kyle Fredrickson drove in two with two outs apart of a three run rally.
The team will leave from North Dakota on Wednesday and head to North Carolina for their opening round game against the Western regional winner on Friday.
