Nebraska State Senator John Harms says he will try again to make not wearing your seat belt a primary offense in the state. That means if an officer sees you not buckled up, they can pull you over for that violation. Harms says he’s looking to save lives.
“I think it’s important to save your life and when you look at the data and the statistics, people that don’t wear seat belts usually die or they are severely injured. It’s just strictly one about safety and we should at least have that discussion again and if Nebraska chooses not to wanna go that direction, well that’s the way it is.”
Nebraska could also get more than seven million dollars in federal funding if the seat belt law is upgraded.
