The Lincoln Saltdogs were swept at home on Thursday, losing 7-2 and 7-6 to Sioux Falls. The Saltdogs fell two games behind both the Canaries and Sioux City in the American Association North, with only eight games left to play.
In both games, a five-run third inning spelled the end of the night for Lincoln’s starting pitchers. Game one starter Jonathan Figueroa (0-1) only retired one Sioux Falls batter in the third, giving up three hits and two walks.
In the second game, Lincoln jumped to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but Sioux Falls got six straight two-out hits against Saltdogs starter Jim Paduch to jump ahead 5-4. Sioux Falls would add single runs in the fifth and sixth and hold off a late Lincoln rally to win.
