A new study ranks Nebraska 17th in the nation for tax burden. Bill Ahern with the nonprofit Tax Foundation tells us their study shows our neighbors are ranked better.
“We know from economic theory that tax competition will punish those states that stand out with especially high taxes in a region, so there is that caution.”
Nebraska’s tax rate is down this year, but is still a notch above the national tax rate.
“We would caution Nebraskans to keep their tax burdens no higher than it is since it’s already the highest in the region, and to prune where they can.”
