DNA could free suspects in 1985 rape/murder case

A woman who helped put an innocent man behind bars now admits she lied. The testimony more than 20 years ago helped convict a man of raping and killing a 68-year-old Beatrice woman. Ada JoAnn Taylor implicated Joseph White and another man in the 1985 slaying of Helen Wilson. DNA tests have cleared the men of rape. The men are now waiting for a judge to decide whether to throw out their convictions. If exonerated, they’ll be the first Nebraska inmates freed by DNA. Meanwhile, the woman who lied, Taylor, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in the case.
