It all came together on Sunday for the O-Royals, clutch hitting, solid pitching, and good defense on a day when the mercury hit 100 as Omaha beat Colorad Springs Sky Sox 4-0.
One kid who keeps hitting since being called up from AA Northwest Arkansas hit his third home run in five games is Kila Kaaihue. Manager Mike Jirschele says he’s going to split time at first base with Ryan Shealy and if he’s not in the field his bat will continue to stay in the lineup.
As far as the pitching, starter Roman Colon moved to 3-5 giving up just four hits in five innings while only giving up one walk and striking out five. The O-Royals added two runs in the 8th to boost relief pitchers Greg Atencio and Brad Salmon.
