34 members of Nebraska Task Force One are on the way to San Antonio today to prepare for a hurricane. Tropical Storm Dolly is closing in on the Texas Gulf Coast, near the border with Mexico. Lincoln Assistant Fire Chief John Huff tells us that FEMA is taking a pro-active approach.
“They’re relatively close in proximity to anticipated landfall. They can move in pretty quickly once the storm has passed and that’s really the purpose if they need search and rescue. Really not much different than the fire department. They’re stationed there, they’re ready to go.”
Forecasters expect Dolly to make landfall as soon as late tonight as a Category One storm.
