The 24th Cornhusker State Games officially got under way Friday night with the opening ceremonies at Seacrest Field in Lincoln.
Ashland native and astronaut Clayton Anderson, who spent five month about the International Space Station last year, was at the head of the parade of state athletes who filed into the field for the opening ceremonies. For more on the games you can visit the official website.
One of the highlights of the opening ceremonies is the mystery torch lighter. This year it was the Husker’s second all-time leading scorer and NBA vet Eric Piatkowski who held the honors.
The Cornhusker Games boast as being the 2nd biggest state games behind New York.
