16 year old shooting victim prompts rally

A 16 year old Omaha girl is recovering from two gunshot wounds.  Renesha Wright was leaving a party near 42nd and Redman shortly after midnight when shots rang out.  Renisha’s mother, Renae Wright says Renisha and several friends were leaving a party when apparently several people started volleying shots back and forth.  She says Renisha thought she was running from the gunfire but was actually running toward it because shots were being fired in several directions.  Renisha was hit twice, once in the arm and once in the abdomen.  Both went through.  Renisha is lucky.  She will be ok.  Several community leaders, including State Senator Ernie Chambers, will hold a March for Change Rally Saturday afternoon in north Omaha.
