One of the nation’s most visible politicians is campaigning in eastern Nebraska today, his first stop in the Husker State during this election cycle.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain is in the Omaha area for what promises to be one of the state’s largest-ever political fundraisers. Tickets to the event in Ashland are a thousand dollars a piece, or for 50-grand a couple, you can attend a more intimate reception and have a photo taken with McCain.
Nebraska Democrats criticize the fundraiser, comparing it to Barack Obama’s free event that drew thousands to Omaha in February. As an alternative, Democrats are holding a five-dollar per person hot dog cookout today at a park about a mile from where McCain will speak.
