Nebraska girls play on S.D. all-star team

Six girls with Nebraska ties will actually play tonight for the Black Hills Gold all-star softball team of South Dakota as they play the U.S. Olympic team in an exhibition game tonight in Rapid City.

Tagney Jones of Lincoln, and Tara Oltman of Beatrice will join Krystal Kirwan and Allison Rutherford of Omaha, Jenna Marston of Elkhorn, and Kiley Schwedhelm  Papillion-La Vista.
The U.S. Olympic team has been making the rounds throughout the country, and the South Dakota team was based on players who had some specific tie to the state of South Dakota, either players who grew up in the state, or played or coached softball at a South Dakota institution.
56 women tried out for the team over two days of practices, then intra-squad scrimmages.
