Lincoln native wins bowling's Pro-Am regional event

The Pro Bowlers Tour’s made a summer regional stop at the Thunderbowl in a pro-am competition.  Lincoln’s Rick Miller won his first regional title beating Matt Smallin. 
 
Miller takes up $2,300 for his victory.  To get to the title match, Miller had to defeat Omahan Matt Tomsu in the semifinals.  Tomsu was a graduate of Omaha Gross and part-owner of the Bowling Store in Omaha, struggled near the end of his match, losing 215-184.
 
In the round of 16, Pete Weber defeated Jason Poli 3-1; Derek Sapp beat Richard Kidd 3-2; Matt Smallin over Chad Maas 3-2; David Williams Jr. defeated David Traber 3-1; Don Breeden topped Corey Young, 3-0; Rick Miller over Steve Jaros 3-2; Lonnie Waliczek beat Jason Wojnar 3-1; Matt Tomsu over David Beres 3-0.
 
In the round of 8, Sapp beat Weber 2-1, Smallin over Williams Jr. 2-0, Miller beat Breeden 2-0 and Tomsu over Waliczek 2-1.
 
In the semis, Smallin beat Sapp 223-145 with Miller taking Tomsu 215-184 and Miller over Smallin 233-197.
