Death at Lake McConaughy

A day at Nebraska’s largest lake turned fatal Monday. The Lake McConaughy dive rescue team was called to Martin Bay on the Northeast corner of Lake Mac in response to a missing swimmer Monday afternoon. With the help of the Paxton and Imperial dive teams, Keystone/Lemoyne fire and rescue and the Brule and Ogallala fire departments, the victim was recovered. No details on the victim or circumstances surrounding the drowning are being released. According to Keystone/Lemoyne Fire Chief Ralph Moul, the victim was located in 13 feet of water nearly 200 feet from the shore. In all, 14 rescue divers were on scene and 9 agencies aided in the search.
