Torres makes record 5th Olympic, Omaha the big winner

U.S. Olympic swim trials wrapped up last night with another great event for the city of Omaha.  The trials started with 1,250 swimmers and ended with 43 heading to the Olympics including 41 year old Dara Torres who won the women’s 50 freestyle.  She will make her record fifth Olympic appearance.

 
Peter Vanderkaay won the men’s 1,500 free.  Fans were awarded with great swimming as Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff winning five eventse each, and nine world records fell in these tow weeks.
 
Record attendance figures of 160,003 fans attended the trials, which is 50,000 more than the previous record.
