A Beatrice man killed in a one-vehicle accident east of Beatrice early Thursday morning was driving a stolen vehicle. That’s according to Gage County Sheriff’s officials.
Authorities identified the victim as 25-year-old Benjamin Hill. Beatrice Police Lieutenant Mike Oliver says the car involved in the accident was reported stolen from a downtown area this morning.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue personnel were sent to the accident scene…. 4705 East Sargent Road……about three miles east of Beatrice…….at 6:50 AM. Officers of both the Gage County Sheriff’s Department and Beatrice Police were also at the scene.
Authorities were able to determine that the car was eastbound when it went out-of-control, entered the south ditch and struck an embankment. The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting the driver.
Hill had just recently been acquitted of child abuse, in a Gage County case moved to Jefferson County District Court for a jury trial.
Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour says Hill had pending charges against him of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-offense driving-under-the influence.
