Funerals were held in Nebraska for the four Boy Scouts who were killed last week when a tornado hit their western Iowa Scout camp.
Fourteen-year-old Aaron Eilerts grew up in West Point, Nebraska, which is hosting today’s funeral. Eilerts, who most recently lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa, is being remembered as a diverse boy whose talents ranged from playing the flute to playing football.
The other Scouts who died were all from Omaha: 14-year-old Ben Petrzilka and 13-year-olds Sam Thomsen and Josh Fennen. Their funerals are all Thursday.
Some four-dozen other scouts and scout leaders were hurt when the twister hit the Little Sioux Scout Ranch in Harrison County, Iowa, last Wednesday night. Of the 48, four are reportedly still recovering in hospitals in Sioux City and Omaha.
