Former Husker golfer Scott Gutschewski won The Rex Hospital Open title in Raleigh, N.C., his second career Nationwide Tour win. Gutschewski’s 5-under 66 in the final round gave him a two-stroke victory. It was his first Nationwide Tour win since the Monterey Peninsula Classic in 2003.
With the win, Gutschewski picked up $90,000 jumping up to eighth place from 35th on the Nationwide tour money list. If Gutschewski can finish in the top 25 at the end of the season, he’ll earn his PGA tour card.
Gutschewski was once on the PGA Tour from 2005-07 and played in 69 career events, recording two top 10 finishes along the way.
Gutschewski is a native of Omaha and he graduated from Nebraska in 1999. During his senior year, Gutschewski led a successful NU golf team to a 3rd-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional and a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championship, the best in program history.
