The Lincoln Saltdogs came up short in the series finale against Shreveport, losing 3-1 in 10 innings at Haymarket Park. The Sports took two out of three from Lincoln in the series, and the Saltdogs finished the homestand with a 3-3 mark.
The game was decided in the top of the tenth with one out, after Ron Fenwick drew a walk against Lincoln reliever Jason Jarvis (0-2). Chad Gambill drove a 1-2 pitch over the right field wall for a two-run home run, giving Shreveport the lead for good. Matt Clayman and Trey Poland combined to retire the Saltdogs in order in the bottom of the tenth, with Poland earning his fifth save.
Mario Delgado finished the night 2-for-4 with the home run. Anthony Contreras went 0-for-3 with a walk, ending his hitting streak at 19 games. Jonny Kaplan went 0-for-2 before being ejected in the third inning, marking the first time all season he did not reach base safely.
The Saltdogs take Monday off, before beginning a three-game series in Wichita Tuesday night at 7:05.
