Retailers have the right to kick off petitioners

Asking for petitions of priviate property is becoming a  bit of a circus and Attorney General Jon Bruning says it doesn’t have to occur. Bruning was asked whether petitioners can be cited for trespassing if they refuse to leave private property.
“But the question comes from large retailers and others who do invite the public to shop at their locations.   The answer of course is that private property owners do have the right to control who comes and goes and they can ask people to leave.”
Bruning says it’s become quite a production.  You have not only petition circulators but also blockers and those who are designed to keep the blockers away from the circulators and bruning says that private property owners don’t have to have this production going on on their private property.
