Boy Likely Paralyzed After Accident

An accident Sunday night severely injures a two year old boy.   Two year old Selvin Fuegos-Hernandez was a passenger in the front seat of his father’s car when he rear ended another vehicle and then drove over a curb and struck a tree in the Gene Leahy Mall downtown Omaha.

Authorities say the child was riding in the front seat and was not restrained.  Selvin was taken to a hospital with two broken vertebrae. It is likely the boy will be paralyzed.  His father, 36 year old Miguel Fuegos Baustista was arrested on drunken driving-causing serous injury charges and suspicion of felony child abuse.  He was not hurt.
