The Lincoln Saltdogs survived a tornado warning and weather delay of an hour and 12 minutes Wednesday night, beating the St. Paul Saints 7-4 at Haymarket Park.
After giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, the Saltdogs came back with four in the bottom half thanks to a three run homer by Dustin Yount.
The Saltdogs put the game away in the bottom of the seventh, when Eduardo Rios cracked a two-run homer. Yount finished the night 2-for-3 with the home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Rios and Mario Delgado also had two hits each for Lincoln. Anthony Contreras extended his hitting streak to 16 games, with Yount and Delgado reaching six-game hitting streaks.
The Saltdogs and Saints play the finale of their three-game series Thursday night at 7:05. Charlie Ruud is expected to make the start for St. Paul, while Lincoln’s starter has yet to be determined.
