UN-Kearney recovers from last week's Tornado

Dryden Field on UNK campusThe University of Nebraska at Kearney suffered some damage in last week’s tornado that touched down in parts of the town. However, there were no injuries and all of the facilities will be up and fully functional come the start of the fall semester.Peter Yazvac, the sports information director at UNK said he was thankful that classes were out of session and not many students were around, otherwise he feared there may have been some injuries.
Memorial Field, where the baseball team plays received the most damage with the roof coming off the clubhouse and a portion of the outfield fence and a metal sign getting blown away. The baseball field is owned by the city of Kearney. On campus, there was a uprooted tree behind home plate of the softball field and heavy rain may have damaged the basketball court inside a practice facility which may need to be replaced.
