Huskers eliminated by Oral Roberts

Kelly Minissale pitched carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning as Oral Roberts eliminated the Huskers from the NCAA Lincoln regional with an 8-0 victory on Sunday before a subdued crowd of 5,106. Nebraska (41-16-1) became the first top seed eliminated among 16 in the 64-team tournament, finishing 1-2 at home in the postseason after winning 28 of 32 here before it.
The Huskers fell behind 6-0 when Oral Roberts first baseman Michael Notaro slammed a hanging, 1-1 curveball from Thad Weber for a three-run homer with two outs in the third inning.
Minissale, a 5-9, 170-pound senior, lasted 81/3 innings. The left-hander from Murphy, Texas, struck out two, walked three and hit three Huskers in throwing 134 pitches to earn his third win in just 11 appearances.
Minissale, who batted second in the Oral Roberts’ lineup, normally plays center field. He pitched just twice in the past month before Sunday.
