Huskers out-hit Eastern for win

The Huskers and Eastern Illinois racked up a combined 23 runs to go along with seven homers as the Huskers beat Eastern 13-10 in the first game of the NCAA Lincoln Regional.
With 6,367 fans on hand, Nebraska scored in seven of their eight innings.  They hit four home runs on a day when the wind was carrying the ball to all parts of the field.  Senior Jake Opitz had two of those home runs.  Dan Jennings made it through just 3.1 innings as it looked like head coach Mike Anderson’s strategy may come back to haunt him for not starting Jake Dorn.   Eastern led 5-3 early.
The Huskers would rally to take lead by scoring four times in the 4th.  Thad Weber picked up the win in relief.
NU will play UC-Irvine tonight at 7:30 after they defeated Oral Roberts 9-7.  Eastern Illinois plays O.R. today at 1pm.
