The Salvation Army emergency disaster unit and teams are in Parkersburg, Iowa helping the victims of the deadly tornado over the weekend. John Kuzma is the divisional director of disaster services based in Omaha and he is in the town of about one-thousand. He says their main priority is making sure that people get needed food, water and other supplies like blankets and gloves. He says the damage is severe and it appears that the tornado dropped right into the middle of the town and flattened it. There are homes around the outside of the Parkersburg that only received minor damage. The main job today is to remove the damaged vehicles from the yards. Kuzma was in Hallam several years ago and saw the damage from that tornado that flattened most of the town. He says this is very similar to what happened in Hallam.
