A well known Lincoln area soccer coach is lodged in jail in connection with allegations of abuse and sexual assault involving at least five teenage boys. Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says that many more boys could have been assaulted. 57 year old Sanford Kaplan had coached at northeast high school and has worked part time for the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Kaplan has also worked as a volunteer soccer coach for the capitol soccer association. Sheriff Wagner says that the allegations against Kaplan go back over an eight year period. During the past week…two boys reported being bound, blindfolded, gagged and suspended from the rafters of a garage. They were told originally it was part of a game. Kaplan had no prior criminal history.
