The American Red Cross is launching a campaign called “Change a Life,” and spokeswoman Leslie Schaeffer says the agency has a simple goal in mind. Schaeffer says they just want people to be aware of the value of volunteering and what it means to be a volunteer. She says there are many ways for people in Nebraska to lend a helping hand. Schaeffer says people can come in and volunteer in the office, and there are disaster action teams that go out after fires and sometimes for flooding and tornadoes. Schaeffer says the number of volunteers has gone up since the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
