In his 2nd start for the Royals, Jeff Fulchino (1-0) picked up the win with 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 4. Ryan Shealy had 3 hits, an RBI and a run scored, Mike Aviles doubled and scored 3 runs, and Mitch Maier smacked a solo homer for the Royals. The Beavers avoided being Omaha’s 1st shutout victim of the season, scoring an unearned run in the 8th inning off Devon Lowery. Neal Musser finished with a perfect 9th inning. Portland starter Josh Geer (2-3) took the loss, after giving up 6 runs on 7 hits, 4 walks and 2 costly wild pitches that each allowed a run to score.
